Can I get a free tablet with EBT?
Yes. Your EBT card shows you receive SNAP, which is a qualifying program for Lifeline. When you enroll in Lifeline with Phone Government, you can choose a free tablet offer along with your free phone service.
Does every EBT card qualify for Lifeline?
EBT cards can carry different benefits. SNAP qualifies you for Lifeline. Cash assistance such as TANF or benefits like WIC do not qualify on their own (Tribal TANF does qualify on Tribal lands). If you're unsure, check the SNAP/EBT eligibility page or qualify by income.
What kind of free tablet will I get?
Our standard offer is an 8- to 10-inch Android tablet (such as a Samsung Galaxy Tab A-series or similar). Apple fans can request the free iPad offer. Want a phone too? Choose the phone and tablet combo.
Free tablets for students and seniors
Students use tablets for online homework, reading and school apps. Seniors use them for telehealth visits, video calls with grandchildren and reading with larger text. Both connect over Wi‑Fi or your Lifeline phone's hotspot.
What do I need to apply?
- Your full name, date of birth and last 4 digits of your SSN (or Tribal ID)
- Your home address
- Proof of SNAP or another qualifying program, such as a benefit letter
